MOBIL IN MITTE - DISCUSSION ON TRANSPORT POLICY IN THE DISTRICT
Silke Gebel, leader of the Bündnis 90/DIE GRÜNEN parliamentary group in the Berlin House of Representatives invited:
Time to get things moving!
For decades, the car was at the center of transport policy in Berlin. The traffic space is still unfairly distributed: lots of space for cars, little space for cyclists and pedestrians. In addition, there are parked bike lanes and sidewalks, the environmental pollution associated with traffic congestion and daily hazards for cyclists and pedestrians in traffic.
We Greens have therefore initiated the traffic turnaround in Berlin with Germany's first mobility law: Safe, clean, fair and green is the premise of our transport policy. We create protected cycle lanes, expand tram lines and increase the frequency of public transport, we give bicycles, buses, trams and pedestrians more space on the street. And that is just the beginning. We finally want to distribute urban space more fairly.
Time to take stock after more than a year: Where has the street space already been converted? What else is planned in Moabit and in the district? When does the tram leave for Moabit? And why is it all taking so long?
Halftime for Red-Red-Green in Berlin - shape the future or manage chaos? A debate with Bernd Schlömer, MdA for the FDP parliamentary group, and Sabine Smentek (SPD), State Secretary of the Senate Department for the Interior and Sport.
Martin Pallgen, press spokesman for the Senate Department for the Interior and Sport, will moderate this evening.
I cordially invite you to discuss these questions and other transport policy concerns of yours with Regine Günter, Senator for the Environment, Transport and Climate Protection, and with Sabine Weissler, District Councilor for Education, Culture, Environment and Nature Conservation.
